Member of the International Dance Council CID / UNESCO
So it is finally official!
A couple of weeks ago I was very honoured to be nominated by Dr. Alkis Raftis himself (President of the International Dance Council) to become a Member of the CID.
CID is a non-governmental organisation that supports all forms of dance around the world. It was founded in 1973 by Kurt Jooss, within the UNESCO headquarters (its official partner) in Paris, where it is still based. The main objective of these memberships is to bring together the most important international, national and local organizations, as well as select individuals active in dance. Each one working on their own projects, but united by the interest in dance. Today I'm very happy to announce that I have finally received my letter and certificate, plus a couple of other lovely gifts!
For me, this is an amazing opportunity to acknowledge everything Dance has brought into my life. Furthermore, it inspires me to stop and think about the importance of a Dance Community around the world nowadays, the need to develop dance languages that match today's society ideologies, to realise Dance is an open world for everyone interested: performer, audience, tech, therapy, object of study... (the possibilities are big!), and how technology can open new paths for contribution, experiment and expression in a Dance that could connect people in different places of the world.
Vive le Danse!!!
